Frequently Asked Questions

What is CASL and does it apply to my business?

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation applies to any commercial electronic message sent to a Canadian email address — including B2B emails. It requires prior express or implied consent, sender identification, and a functioning unsubscribe mechanism. Most small businesses have CASL exposure they are not aware of.

Which email platforms do you work with?

Mitiksha works with Brevo (Sendinblue), Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, and Klaviyo. Platform recommendation depends on list size, automation complexity, and budget. Brevo is our default recommendation for most Ontario SMBs due to pricing and deliverability.

How often should we send emails?

For most B2B service businesses, a consistent monthly newsletter with occasional targeted campaigns outperforms weekly blasts to unengaged lists. Frequency should be driven by the quality and relevance of what you are sending, not a predetermined schedule.

We have a list from years ago. Can we use it?

Maybe. Under CASL, implied consent from a business relationship expires after 2 years. Express consent does not expire but must be documented. Mitiksha audits existing lists against CASL consent criteria before any send — using a non-compliant historical list exposes you to significant legal risk.
